last Days and on my way back home

So the past couple of days have been meetings and a little sightseeing.
Yesterday morning before the meeting, i went downtown and found a big white building with some horses on top, lots of old broken stuff again, and the Trevi Fountain.

Day 3–First day of meetings, and not a lot else…

So Today was the first day of the meeting.
as a result, i did very little apart from meet.
the FAO building does have an impressive view over Rome from the rooftop cafe, but that's about the limit to the excitement there for me.
i did take a photo looking down the staircase at the hotel from the third floor.

tonight, after the meeting i went for a walk to the Colosseum. it is big. and broken.

The most famous bit of the Colosseum is the broken bit.
After the Colosseum, i walked a little further, past some shops and the Roman Forum (which like most things here is hidden behind a solid fence, and an expensive ticket after a wait in queue).
I did find some more free stuff, but once again, it was old and broken. they really should start fixing stuff around this place…it looks untidy.

Broken stuff on the side of the road.
Rome 2011 035
dont know what its called, but it was literally right beside the road. weird.
Then after that i went back to my hotel, via a Gelato Shop, and a pizza place for a Calzone. and yes i did eat in that order. mmmmmm.

Day 1 & 2– Flying….

What more is there to say? approximately 37 hours from the time i left home in Queanbeyan, to arriving at the hotel in Rome.
from Sydney it was 9.5 hours to Singapore.

Who says Aeroplane food is bad. My Roast Chicken was delicious. But im saying nothing about the bouncy, hard Bread roll.

Welcome to Singapore
and then what was supposed to be 12.5 hours, turned into 16.5 hours on the plane to get to London…due to a changed flight path, to avoid Afghanistan and certain other countries that we were no longer allowed to fly over. and then because we were late to London, we got to circle Heathrow for almost 35 minutes, just to make sure that instead of just having a rushed connection, everybody completely missed their connecting flights. Which meant i got an extra 3 hour wait in Terminal 5…

Quality Photo Huh? the blue bit on the right is Piccadilly Circus, and the other blue bit is the London Eye...Trust Me.

I think they like to Self Promote how wonderful Britain is.

A slightly famous store.
Finally off to Rome. bit of  a traffic jam at the runway, meant we got to wait another 25 minutes for planes ahead of us to take-off, and cause the ones behind us to back up as well.
Bit of a traffic jam on the tarmac. look a the variety of planes waiting (including an A380, which makes the tiddler behind seem like a bit of a …well…tiddler.

The French Alps, complete with Snow.
Rome finally, and what can i say about it. i think nothing would be best.
the hotel is ‘quaint’….

Went for a quick walk and saw some old stuff… like Circo Maximo…apparently this is REALLY OLD, and is where they used to hold the Chariot Races back before i was born…
Rome 2011 036
Note the authentic centuries old Chipboard fence with wire gate. NICE

I'm also a little worried about dinner tonight. this is the quality of ‘Ristorante’. apparently this one is quite good too… Hmmm.

Hmmmm
Maybe i should just stick with something i know and trust…
